On May 13, 2011, USD 507 students gathered at both the elementary and junior-senior high school in the hope of winning one of several prizes provided by the Satanta United Methodist Church’s 21st Time Class via a generous donation made by the late Sharon Kisker. The prizes—which (at the high school and junior high) included Satanta Day carnival wristbands, Pizza Shack gift certificates, El Indio gift certificates, Corner Bucks, and season passes to the Satanta City pool—were raffled off with students receiving chances based on individual performances on annual state assessments in reading, math, science, and social studies. Those scoring exemplary on a given assessment received three chances; exceeds standards, two; and meets standards, one.
